Frequently asked questions: digital printing

What are your artwork requirements for digital printing?
Our artwork requirements are the same. Remember to send 300 dpi images and specify colors if PMS matches are necessary.
Can you match PMS colors?
Yes, we can print 80% of the pantone color palette. This is a big improvement over traditional printing where we can only print 40% of the pantone color palette. PMS color matches are also free with digital printing.
Can you print on both sides?
No, we currently cannot print on both sides. We’re working to make this possible.
Can you print full coverage?
No, you’re imprint must be 1/4” from the edge of the bag on all sides. This is a major improvement over traditional printing which required the imprint to be 3/4” from the edge on all sides.
Is there a change of imprint charge?
Imprint changes are free, but there is a 100 piece minimum for every imprint.
When should I sell digitally printed plastic bags?
Digital printing is ideal for printing full-color images in low minimums. Here are the best opportunities to sell digital printing:
  • Your client needs 50 – 5000 full-color plastic bags. Before digital printing it wasn’t possible to print more than 2 colors in small quantities.
  • When time matters, digital printing ships in 10 days. Before digital printing if your design had 4+ colors it’d ship in 20 days.
  • You need to match PMS colors. Digital printing lets us match any PMS color at no charge.
  • You are dealing with new customers. Simple pricing makes digital printing easy to sell and easy to order.
What products are available with digital printing?
All plastic bag styles and sizes are available. We will also digitally print plastic banners.
Can you digitally print on silver metallic plastic?
No, we currently cannot print digitally on silver metallic plastic. We’re working to make this possible.
Is there a setup for exact reorders?
Yes, there is a $250 (G) setup for all orders.
Do you have templates available?
Yes, use our existing templates. You can find them here.
Why are there overruns on my order?
We use a two step process to manufacture plastic bags. First we print rolls of plastic film. Then we convert the printed rolls into plastic bags. Digital printing allows us to print exact quantities, but we still cannot convert exact quantities. Depending upon how well the conversion process runs we may miss our target quantity by +/- 10%.
Why is there a setup charge?
We use a two step process to manufacture our bags. This charge covers setups for printing and converting. The setup process for digital printing is simple, but we must modify the machine and use material to setup the bag converter.
